The origins of the craftsman dates back to the 1860’s. The style is incorporated with handcrafted wood, glass and metal that is simple and visually elegant, that is influenced by the British Arts & Crafts Movement. The name craftsman actually is derived from a early popular magazine dated back to the early 1900s by furniture maker Gustav Stickley named The Craftsman, the magazine featured house’s and furniture designs by Harvey Ellis, the Greene brothers, and others.
Bellingham Historic, Victorian & Craftsman homes are very popular in this area. Everyone seems to be looking for a historic home, and the are in high demand and tend to sell quickly for top dollar. There are many older neighborhoods that have homes built in the late to early 1900’s including, York, South Hill, Columbia, Eldrige, The lettered Streets, Cornwall Park & Sunnyland.
